Basketball Recap: Foresthill Comes Up Short

Foresthill and Sacramento Adventist squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Foresthill had to settle for second. They lost 53-31 to the Sacramento Adventist Capitals. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildfires have suffered since December 30, 2024.

Despite the loss, Foresthill still got an impressive performance from Amy Saxelby, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 18 rebounds. That was a full 54.8% of Foresthill's points, marking the third time in a row Saxelby has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Foresthill was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sacramento Adventist only five assists.

Sacramento Adventist was led to victory by Gwen Rosich and Kyla Friedrich. Rosich dropped a triple-double with 16 points, 11 boards, and 13 steals, while Friedrich went 8-for-14 en route to 19 points and seven steals. Friedrich is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last ten games she's played. Jasmine Rodriguez was another key player, putting up five points and six steals.

Foresthill's defeat dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Sacramento Adventist, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-6.

Foresthill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sacramento Adventist, they will square off against Sacramento Waldorf at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sacramento Waldorf will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something Sacramento Adventist surely won't give up without a fight.
