Basketball Recap: Bella Vista Takes a Loss

Bella Vista lost against Ponderosa back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Bella Vista Broncos were beaten by the Ponderosa Bruins 72-22. The Broncos were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-11.

When it comes to explaining why Bella Vista lost, don't look at Ellie Thome. Despite the final result, she posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and seven steals. Thome has been hot recently, having posted six or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Dean, who had four points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bella Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Bella Vista dropped their record down to 5-11 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Ponderosa, the win keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.

Bella Vista didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 51-46 loss against Rio Americano on the 10th. As for Ponderosa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-29 victory against Edison on the 10th.
