Basketball Recap: Granada Hills Charter Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Alyssa Badua and Araceli Gonzalez

If Granada Hills Charter was feeling good fresh off their 54-28 takedown of Santa Monica two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Granada Hills Charter Highlanders fell 53-40 to the La Canada Spartans on Thursday. The Highlanders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2018.

Despite the loss, Granada Hills Charter had strong showings from Araceli Gonzalez, who posted 16 points, and Alyssa Badua, who had 12 points.

La Canada's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madison Hunt led the charge by putting up four points in addition to nine steals and eight boards. Those nine steals gave Hunt a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Malia Harney, who put up ten points and four steals.

Granada Hills Charter has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for La Canada, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Granada Hills Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 84-39 defeat against Marlborough on the 27th. As for La Canada, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 55-46 loss against Crescenta Valley on the 27th.
