Baseball Recap: Hearts Academy Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Hearts Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cornerstone Prep Academy on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 15-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Jameson Wood made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Mobley, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hearts Academy will host CrossPointe Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cornerstone Prep Academy, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Harvester Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
