Softball Recap: Cor Jesu Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mehlville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cor Jesu Academy). Everything went their way against the Mehlville Panthers on Wednesday as they made off with a 19-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

Ella Sweringen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Sweringen was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs.

In other batting news, Cor Jesu Academy let Grace Rasmussen and Peyton Chambers run wild. Rasmussen went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Chambers went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Rasmussen a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Beau Belz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Cor Jesu Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cor Jesu Academy's record now sits at 12-6. As for Mehlville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
