Preview: Albert Lea Tigers vs. Waseca Bluejays



Albert Lea is 0-4 against Waseca since August of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Albert Lea Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Waseca Bluejays at 7:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Albert Lea has struggled recently with 15 defeats in a row, while Waseca will arrive with five straight wins.

Last Friday, Albert Lea came up short against Worthington and fell 22-14. Albert Lea has struggled against Worthington recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Although Albert Lea took the loss, they still got scores from Joshua Jordahl and Cameron Mudra.

Meanwhile, Waseca got themselves on the board against Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center] on Friday, but Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center] never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Titans 56-0 at home. Given Waseca's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center] is ranked 162nd), the result wasn't exactly an upset.

Albert Lea's defeat was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.63 points per game. As for Waseca, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 5-1.

Albert Lea was taken down by Waseca 60-6 in their previous meeting back in September of 2018. Can Albert Lea avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
