Recap: Smethport Hubbers vs. Galeton Tigers

The Smethport Hubbers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Galeton 52-12 at home. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Smethport as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Smethport to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elizabeth Hungiville, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Hungiville is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Jaidyn Goodman was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Despite the loss, Galeton still got an impressive performance from Lynlee Basile, who scored seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Reigle, who scored five points.

Smethport's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Galeton, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smethport will face off against Port Allegany at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Port Allegany focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Wednesday. Galeton will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Canton at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. Canton is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
