Softball Recap: Berthoud Takes a Loss

Berthoud couldn't beat Frederick on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the seventh inning. The Spartans fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 9-8. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Berthoud got a massive performance out of Annabelle Hughes, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was Hughes' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lexi Griffin, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Berthoud's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Frederick, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Coming up, Berthoud will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Niwot at 9:00 a.m. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Frederick, they will take on Resurrection Christian in a tournament on Saturday.
