Salesian College Preparatory's loss ends nine-game winning streak at home

Recap: Salesian College Preparatory Pride vs. St. Mary's Rams

After a string of five wins, the Salesian College Preparatory Pride's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were the victim of a tough 71-51 defeat at the hands of St. Mary. The match was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Salesian College Preparatory struggled afterwards.

Salesian College Preparatory lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ayla Rege, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Rege has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madalyn Kanazawa, who scored 12 points.

Salesian College Preparatory's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-9. As for St. Mary's, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salesian College Preparatory will take on Saint Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Saint Mary's will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 365th, while Salesian College Preparatory is ranked 115th). As for St. Mary's, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Manteca at 7:00 p.m.
