Soccer Recap: Birmingham Victorious

Birmingham was handed a five-goal loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. It was close, but they capped 2025 with a 1-0 win over the Flintridge Prep Wolves. Given Birmingham's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while Flintridge Prep are ranked 381st) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Birmingham's one-goal win came courtesy of Silvina Gutierrez, who's now up to five this season.

Birmingham is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Flintridge Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4-2 record this season.

Birmingham has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Van Nuys on the 27th. As for Flintridge Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next contest, a 1-1 draw against Valencia on the 26th.
