Softball Recap: Ralston Valley Triumphs

Ralston Valley hadn't done well against Mountain Vista recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Golden Eagles 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since September 14, 2024.

Kat Mastriona spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and five unearned) runs on 11 hits.

At the plate, Nina Renk was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caley Pfeifer, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Ralston Valley's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Mountain Vista, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Ralston Valley has already played their next contest, a 4-3 defeat against Horizon on the 30th. As for Mountain Vista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 12-4 victory against Brush on the 30th.
