High school football: Isaiah Smith of Ohio tops national receiving yardage leaderboard

Western Brown (Mt. Orab, Ohio) senior wideout averaging 190 yards per game with high of 339 yards.

According to statistics submitted to MaxPreps, Isaiah Smith of Western Brown (Mt. Orab, Ohio) leads high school football nationally in receiving yardage with 1,333 through seven games.

The 6-foot, 170-pound senior caught 13 passes last week for 339 yards and one touchdown in a 55-40 win over New Richmond. 

Smith, who has over 1,700 all-purpose yards, is averaging 196 yards per game with two games over 240 yards. He went for 296 on Sept. 15 in a 63-13 loss to Miami Trace (Washington Courthouse) and 240 in a 56-48 loss to Jackson.

Tate Kjar of Corner Canyon (Draper, Utah) has benefited from having Isaac Wilson, one of the nation's leading passers, finding him for the Chargers. Kjar is third nationally with 1,236 yards receiving through eight games, nearly half of Wilson's 2,782 yards passing.



Kjar had a high of 252 yards on 14 catches in a 63-42 loss to national No. 2 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) and has gone over 100 yards in six of the Chargers' eight contests.

The three other receivers who have topped the 1,000-yard mark are Landon Figueroa of Granger (West Valley City, Utah) with 1,252 yards, Jay'len Mosley of Jackson Christian (Jackson, Tenn.) with 1,137 yards and Jaydon Smith of Ingleside (Ingleside, Texas).
