Baseball Recap: Fairfield Comes Up Short

Fairfield was the 5-4 winner over Hamilton when they last played one another on Wednesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Indians wound up with the same score they had in their last game (5-4), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Colton Owens was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Carson Candella, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Fairfield's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Hamilton, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-13 record this season.

Fairfield and Hamilton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Indians will face off against St. Xavier at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (79 vs. 5). Meanwhile, Hamilton (ranked 266th) will meet Indian Hill (ranked 83rd) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
