Recap: Gustine Reds vs. Denair Coyotes

The Gustine Reds fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took down Denair 47-29 on Monday. This was payback for Gustine, who suffered a 52-45 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Gustine found their leader in underclassman Brooklyn Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 21 rebounds. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shandel Aguilera, who scored six points along with seven steals.

Despite the loss, Denair saw an underclassman step up: Cloey Ellerd dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 steals. Ellerd hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games.

Gustine's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Denair, they dropped their record down to 7-16 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Waterford the next time they take the court. Denair will host Waterford at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Gustine will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
