Sabrina Cerrillo commands the offense for Toros win

Recap: Torres Toros vs. Sanger West

The Torres Toros won the last time they faced the Sanger West Hornets, and things went their way on Thursday too. Torres walked away with a 45-32 win over Sanger West. Given Torres' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while Sanger West is ranked 984th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Torres' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sabrina Cerrillo, who scored 12 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Cerrillo hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of J'Lynn Mitchell, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and six steals.

The victory makes it two in a row for Torres and bumps their season record up to 13-7. As for Sanger West, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Torres will head out on the road to challenge Madera South at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Sanger West, they will be playing at home against Sunnyside at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Sunnyside is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
