Softball Recap: Blair Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Hastings

Blair faced Hastings in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Bears put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 14-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Laynie Brown was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since September 2nd. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlynn O'Neil, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one triple.

Blair has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Hastings, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-6.

Blair has already played their next contest (against Scottsbluff), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Hastings, they will be taking part in a tournament against Duchesne/Roncalli at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
