Effingham County fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Harlem on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 5-4. The Rebels' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Effingham County got a good showing from Kyle Thomas, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Effingham County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Newton Kieffer, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Effingham County's defeat dropped their record down to 23-4. As for Harlem, the win keeps they at an undefeated 24-0.
