Softball Recap: Troup County Takes a Loss

Troup County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bowdon Red Devils. On the bright side, the five- run effort marked the Tigers' highest-scoring match to date.

Hadley Johnston made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.5 stolen bases per game. Cayleigh Godfrey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Troup County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Bowdon, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, Troup County will take on Fayette County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fayette County has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something Troup County will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bowdon, they will venture away from home to take on Temple at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
