Recap: Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles vs. Orangewood Academy Spartans
The Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Orangewood Academy, falling 69-27. While losing is never fun, Capistrano Valley Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Orangewood Academy is ranked 49th).
Orangewood Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Vivian Grenald, who scored 19 points. Alissa Belen was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Capistrano Valley Christian has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. As for Orangewood Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Capistrano Valley Christian will take on Pacifica Christian/Orange County at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Pacifica Christian/Orange County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Tuesday. As for Orangewood Academy, they will be playing at home against Fairmont Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fairmont Prep is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
