Recap: Huntington Park Spartans vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Huntington Park Spartans can now relate to. They took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cavaliers. While losing is never fun, Huntington Park can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 869th, while Cleveland is ranked 343rd).

When it comes to explaining why Huntington Park lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Ingryd Hernandez. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Juana Vargas, who scored 11 points.

It was another big night for Valerie Anzora, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 20 rebounds for Cleveland. Anzora is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Izabella Maloumian, who scored 15 points along with five assists.

Huntington Park's defeat dropped their record down to 9-19. As for Cleveland, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-14.

Huntington Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cleveland, they will face off against Franklin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Franklin will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Cleveland surely won't give up without a fight.
