Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Norris

Norris had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They never let the Grand Island Islanders get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. That's two games straight that the Titans have won by exactly five runs.

Reese Behrends was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Myra Carlow, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Olivia Macke was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one double.

Norris hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grand Island struck out 14 times.

Norris' victory bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Grand Island, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-14.

Norris didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-4 loss against North Platte on the 27th. As for Grand Island, they have also already played their next game, a 9-1 defeat against Lincoln East on the 27th.
