Baseball Recap: Tucker Comes Up Short

Tucker fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Duluth on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Duluth Wildcats by a score of 14-13.

Blake Samuda put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Samuda was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He also got a hit, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Alec Waller was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Landen Sherrill, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Tucker kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Tucker dropped their record down to 2-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Duluth, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Coming up, Tucker will square off against Fellowship Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fellowship Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Duluth, they will challenge Providence Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
