Baseball Game Preview: Twiggs Academy Trojans vs. John Hancock Academy Rebels

The Twiggs Academy Trojans will square off against the John Hancock Academy Rebels at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Twiggs Academy is leaving town to face John Hancock Academy after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Twiggs Academy lost 19-1 to John Hancock Academy on Thursday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 12 in a row.

For John Hancock Academy's part, Eli Letson and Jack Letson made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Letson tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jack tossed one inning while giving up just one earned run but no hits. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in March of 2024. At bat, Letson scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Jack scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs Jack has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Matthew Wilson was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Maverick Stephens was another key player, scoring two runs.

Twiggs Academy might still be hurting after the 19-1 loss they got from John Hancock Academy in their previous meeting on Thursday. Can Twiggs Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
