Preview: Marion Center Stingers vs. DuBois Beavers
The Marion Center Stingers and the DuBois Beavers will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Marion Center posted their biggest victory since December 14, 2023 on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 55-24 victory over Conemaugh Township at home. Given Marion Center's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Conemaugh Township is ranked 438th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, DuBois' seven-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end back in December of 2023. They came out on top against Brockway by a score of 43-32. DuBois' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Marion Center's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. As for DuBois, their victory bumped their record up to 1-6.
Marion Center skirted past DuBois 49-46 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marion Center since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
