Basketball Recap: Ferndale Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

If Ferndale was riding high fresh off their 53-14 takedown of South Fork last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ferndale Wildcats lost 65-43 to the St. Bernard's Crusaders on Friday. The Wildcats have struggled against the Crusaders recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Ferndale still got an impressive performance from Michaela Ellsmore, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tinnley Pidgeon, who earned ten points.

It was another big night for Laila Florvilus, who almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine boards for St. Bernard's. Florvilus is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last five games she's played. Carli Baum was another key player, putting up seven points along with five assists and four steals.

Ferndale's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7. As for St. Bernard's, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ferndale will face off against Hoopa Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Bernard's, they will challenge Trinity at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Bernard's is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62 points per game this season.
