Baseball Recap: Hebron Christian Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Hebron Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past the Gainesville Red Elephants 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since March 19, 2025.

Demitri Watts and Gus Steve did most of the damage at the plate: Watts went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Steve went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Steve has posted since back in March of 2025. Austin Dowdy was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Hebron Christian has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 7.5 runs this season. As for Gainesville, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hebron Christian will welcome Holy Innocents Episcopal at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Gainesville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Loganville at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
