Baseball Recap: Old Orchard Beach Comes Up Short

Old Orchard Beach was the 11-5 winner over Waynflete when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Seagulls fell just short of the Flyers by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Old Orchard Beach saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Moody, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Old Orchard Beach's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 9-4. As for Waynflete, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

Looking ahead, Old Orchard Beach will square off against Mount View at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Seagulls' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Waynflete, they will take on Cape Elizabeth at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Flyers 3.8, the Capers 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
