Softball Recap: Burke County Falls to Georgia School for Innovation & Classics in First Game of Season

Burke County unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 17-5 to the Georgia School for Innovation & Classics Patriots on Wednesday. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

Burke County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madeleigh James, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI.

The victory got Georgia School for Innovation & Classics back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Burke County will head out to face off against Portal at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Georgia School for Innovation & Classics will be paying especially close attention to the Bears' game: after the Bears face off against Westside, they'll take on Georgia School for Innovation & Classics again at 5:00 p.m. on the 14th.
