Basketball Recap: Baker Takes a Loss

On Tuesday, the Baker Braves came up short against the Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon Pirate and fell 28-15. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Baker saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lorena Licona posted six points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals. Those six points gave Licona a new career-high.

Baker's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Baker and Sandy Valley will compete for holiday cheer at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Baker is facing Sandy Valley at the right time seeing as Sandy Valley is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Pahrump Valley at 5:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
