You might not recognize the power rankings this week after a busy last week rearranged the teams a whole lot. Among the games was a one-point thriller between Bemidji and St. Cloud Tech.
Can't Touch This
Even though Elk River was bested by Cambridge-Isanti 48 - 44 last week, Elk River's sophomore Carter Otto played one heck of a game. He ran for 261 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. That performance landed Otto among the top power-ranked players for the week.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Pierz last week (their 5th in a row). Everything went its way against Rockford as it secured a 66 - 0 win. That 66-point margin marks the most Pierz has won by all season. With nine consecutive wins, Pierz boasts the longest winning streak of any team in the rankings.
This Week's Big Showdown
The showdown between Eden Prairie (2nd in the power rankings) and Edina (7th) shaped up to be more of a takedown. Eden Prairie took its game against Edina by a confident 21 - 0 score. Despite the outcome, neither team improved or gave up its position in the power rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Prior Lake (17th in the power rankings) and Buffalo (13th). Buffalo will be strutting in after a win while Prior Lake will be stumbling in from a defeat. Will Buffalo repeat its success, or will Prior Lake bounce back and dish team a loss?
