Softball Recap: Boulder Panthers vs. Prairie View Thunderhawks

Boulder extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 21 on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-19. They lost 18-2 to the Prairie View Thunderhawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-6 back in September.

Boulder saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alissa Zacharewicz, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Prairie View, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-12. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games.

On Prairie View's side, Viviana Saucedo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and only one walk). Saucedo was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Shelby Ortiz was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. She also snagged a stolen base, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aliciana Saucedo, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
