Brentwood School won the last time they faced Coronado and Kelsey Sugar did her part to make sure it happened again. The Eagles enjoyed a cozy 66-51 win over the Cougars on Saturday thanks in part to Sugar, who went 8-for-15 en route to 25 points in addition to six assists and four steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 17 points per game.
Logan Scott was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 15 rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Despite the loss, Coronado still got an impressive performance from Scarlet Lopez, who shot 71% from the field on her way to 25 points along with six assists and four steals. Lopez is on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last six games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Taylor Jones, who posted ten points.
Brentwood School's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Coronado, their record now sits at 1-1.
Looking ahead, Brentwood School will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Bishop Montgomery at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Coronado, they will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against Somerset Academy Losee at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
