Basketball Game Preview: Chambers Cougars vs. Hopewell Titans

Chambers is 9-1 against Hopewell since February of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Chambers Cougars will host the Hopewell Titans at 7:30 p.m. Chambers knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 matchups -- so hopefully Hopewell likes a good challenge.

Chambers is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Harding University just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 76-75 to the Rams. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (58), the Cougars still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Chambers got top-tier performance from Tarris Bouie III, who went 9 of 18 en route to 26 points along with six boards and three blocks. The contest was Bouie III's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Markus Kerr, who posted 15 points.

Meanwhile, Hopewell was able to grind out a solid victory over West Charlotte on Friday, taking the game 64-54. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Lions are ranked 163rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chambers' defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-7. As for Hopewell, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Chambers beat Hopewell 80-73 in their previous matchup back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Hopewell's Mike Brown, who went 9 for 20 on his way to 23 points.
