Basketball Game Preview: Brawley Wildcats vs. Holtville Vikings

Brawley is 2-8 against Holtville since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Brawley Wildcats will look to defend their home court against the Holtville Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Brawley is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 43-40 heartbreaker at the hands of Palo Verde Valley. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wildcats have suffered since January 22, 2024.

Despite the defeat, Brawley got top-tier performance from Bre Montano, who posted 21 points. Another player making a difference was Kayleen Pacheco, who earned eight points.

Meanwhile, Holtville was not able to break out of their rough patch back in December of 2024 as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a hard 39-23 fall against Chula Vista.

Brawley will have to contain Mallorie Kellum as she made an impact in Holtville's last game. She put up 11 points and eight rebounds. Those 11 points gave Kellum a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Melany Estrada, who posted four points and 14 rebounds.

Brawley's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Holtville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.

Everything came up roses for Brawley against Holtville when the teams last played back in November of 2023, as the team secured a 39-11 victory. Does Brawley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Holtville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
