Basketball Recap: South Iredell Takes a Loss

South Iredell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They took a 68-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cox Mill Chargers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 82-43 back in January.

Despite the loss, South Iredell still got an impressive performance from Ryder Block, who dropped a double-double with 32 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave Block a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brady Doucette, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, South Iredell was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

South Iredell's record now sits at 4-20. As for Cox Mill, their record is now 11-12.

Looking ahead, South Iredell will head out on the road to challenge Mooresville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Mooresville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.8 points per game this season. As for Cox Mill, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Cabarrus at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Cox Mill knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully West Cabarrus likes a good challenge.
