Baseball Game Preview: Georgia Christian Generals vs. Sherwood Christian Academy Eagles

The Georgia Christian Generals will head out on the road to square off against the Sherwood Christian Academy Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Sherwood Christian Academy will be up against a hot Georgia Christian squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Georgia Christian's pitcher stepped up to hand Open Bible Christian a 17-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Generals, who have now won nine contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Benji Galindo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Galindo was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Georgia Christian got a massive performance out of Colton Hall, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Hall has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Carson Hanks, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Georgia Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sherwood Christian Academy). Everything went their way against Turner County on Thursday as Sherwood Christian Academy made off with a 16-7 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Georgia Christian's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Sherwood Christian Academy, they moved to 2-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Georgia Christian might still be hurting after the 13-7 loss they got from Sherwood Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can Georgia Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
