High school football rankings: Bishop Gorman finishes No. 1 in final Nevada MaxPreps Top 25

Gaels go unbeaten against in-state competition en route to 19th title.

The high school football season in Nevada came to a close over the weekend with champions crowned at Allegiant Stadium and Carson High School. Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) was among the victors, beating Bishop Manogue (Reno) 70-6 to capture the Class 5A crown. That victory helped propel the Gaels to the No. 1 ranking in the final state MaxPreps Top 25.

In beating Bishop Manogue, Gorman (13-1) captured its 19th state title and 12th in the past 13 years. The Gaels beat teams from Arizona, Georgia, Hawaii and Utah in addition to a dominant run against in-state competition. In nine games against Nevada foes, the Las Vegas powerhouse outscored those opponents 574-23.

Class 4A champion Silverado (Las Vegas) (12-0) finished No. 4 after beating Shadow Ridge (Las Vegas) 51-27 in the 4A final to cap an unbeaten season. The Skyhawks averaged 54.3 points per game while allowing just 5.5 with six shutouts.
