Baseball Game Preview: Covington Academy Bulldogs vs. Trinity Prep Lions

Covington Academy is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Trinity Prep a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Covington Academy Bulldogs will look to defend their home field against the Trinity Prep Lions at 4:30 p.m. Covington Academy has given up an average of 16.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Covington Academy managed to slip by Young Americans Christian the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Covington Academy came up short against Young Americans Christian on Tuesday, falling 15-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

Covington Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Lowery, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Trinity Prep took on Peachtree Academy on Thursday. Trinity Prep fell just short of Peachtree Academy by a score of 7-5.

Samuel Shoemaker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. He also brought in three RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Levi Barrelle, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Covington Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Trinity Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Covington Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Trinity Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Covington Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Trinity Prep in their previous meeting back in February, winning 12-9. Will Covington Academy repeat their success, or does Trinity Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
