Football Recap: Bishop Union Skates Past Central with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Union). They claimed a resounding 54-0 victory over the Central Grizzlies. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Bishop Union got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emory Dondero out in front who threw for 156 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 6-for-6 passing, and also punched in one rushing score. The dominant performance also gave Dondero a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Bishop Union also got a significant boost from Elliott Douda, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 93 yards.

Bishop Union didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Central to a completion percentage of just 31.2%. The team can thank Levi Derr for the heroic effort on defense: he. Bishop Union wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 100%.

Bishop Union didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Miguel Elizarraraz and Hunter Dailey. Dailey got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Bishop Union now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Bishop Union will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Rosamond at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The game will give the Broncos their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Central, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 49-13 loss against San Joaquin Memorial on the 25th.
