Overton and Mt. Enterprise are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Overton humbled Alto with a 47-3 victory. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Rylan Holleman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 94 yards and two scores on only 11 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jacob Osburn also helped out with an impressive 98 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Overton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 269 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 161 rushing yards in six consecutive contests.

Overton's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB ten times. The heavy lifting was done by Hunter Klima and Gunnar Whitfield, who racked up six sacks between them. Overton is undefeated when Klima posts one or more sacks, but 2-3 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Mt. Enterprise hadn't done well against Lovelady recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wildcats blew past the Lions 82-60. The Wildcats' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Overton better keep an eye on Kaegan Ash. He was instrumental in Mt. Enterprise's win, rushing for 495 yards and seven TDs while picking up 14.6 yards per carry. Ash is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last 17 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aadin Alsup, who rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries.
Overton's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Mt. Enterprise, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.
Thursday's game might be decided on the ground. Overton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 226.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Mt. Enterprise struggles in that department as they've been averaging 394.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Overton won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, slipping by Mt. Enterprise 45-44. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Ash, who rushed for 240 yards and a pair of scores.
