Softball Recap: Lamar Beats Alamosa for Their Fourth Straight Win

The matchup between Lamar and Alamosa on Saturday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Thunder narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Mean Moose 11-10. The victory was familiar territory for the Thunder, who have now won four games in a row.

Carlin Weber made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Alexa Aguilar was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Roslyn Gonzales was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Lamar was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They are 8-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Lamar's record is now 12-8. As for Alamosa, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-8.

Lamar wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 9-3 loss against Southeast Colorado on the 7th. As for Alamosa, they have also already played their next matchup, a 9-3 defeat against La Junta on the 7th.
