Kouts has gone a perfect 4-0 against Griffith recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Mustangs & Fillies will welcome the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Kouts comes in on 24 and Griffith on three.
While Kouts' win against Boone Grove wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs & Fillies narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Wolves 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs & Fillies have posted since May 7th.
Vance Glassburn looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kouts' victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Landon Garrett, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Garrett has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another was Billy Miller, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Kouts always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .531 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Griffith never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Calumet Christian.
The team relied heavily on Jonathan Nevarez, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelo Gallo, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Griffith's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Kouts, their victory bumped their record up to 24-1.
Griffith's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Kouts has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Griffith, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Kouts' sizable advantage in that area, the Panthers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Kouts got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Griffith by a conclusive 11-2 score. Will the Mustangs & Fillies repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
