Basketball Recap: Stockdale Takes a Loss

After soaring to 57 points the game before, Stockdale was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They were dealt a 61-14 loss at the hands of the Centennial Golden Hawks. The Mustangs have struggled against the Golden Hawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Sabella Beck was Stockdale's leading scorer, having posted five points. Ashley Wilson held things down on the boards with five rebounds.

Centennial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shekinah (Kai) Shaw led the charge by putting up 11 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals. Shaw is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Saniya Smith, who posted five points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Stockdale's defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Centennial, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Coming up, Stockdale will challenge Liberty at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Centennial, they will welcome Frontier at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Frontier sitting on 11 straight victories and Centennial on five.
