Basketball Recap: Hondo Valley Comes Up Short

Hondo Valley was the 45-36 winner over Reserve when they last played one another back in December of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles fell 39-31 to the Mountaineers on Saturday.

Despite the loss, Hondo Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Makailah Gonzales posted 11 points. Dream Weaver was another key player, putting up eight points.

Hondo Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Reserve, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Hondo Valley has already played their next game, a 53-47 loss against New Mexico Military Institute on the 8th. As for Reserve, they will head out to square off against Pine Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
