Soccer Game Preview: Santa Maria vs. Santa Ynez

Santa Maria is 0-9-1 against Santa Ynez since January of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Santa Maria Saints will host the Santa Ynez Pirates at 6:00 p.m. Santa Maria will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Santa Maria's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Nipomo 4-0. The result was nothing new for the Saints, who have now won 11 contests by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Santa Ynez had just enough and edged Pioneer Valley out 2-1 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Hannah Ricci and Isabella Rubio scored both of Santa Ynez's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Santa Maria has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-1-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those 13 matchups. As for Santa Ynez, they now have a winning record of 6-5-1.
