Softball Recap: Legacy Snags Ninth Win in Last 12 Games

Legacy's tournament run continued when they took on Vista Ridge on Saturday. The Lightning walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Wolves.

Kady Cosyns tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Prisca Smolens was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run and one stolen base. Marcella Moritz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Legacy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Legacy is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Vista Ridge, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-10.

Legacy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 1-0 defeat against Grand Junction on the 18th. Vista Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
