Basketball Recap: Tamaqua Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Tamaqua was riding high fresh off their 56-24 takedown of Panther Valley last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tamaqua Blue Raiders fell to the North Schuylkill Spartans 44-39. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-45 back in January.

Several Blue Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Millie Black, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards. Another player making a difference was Lauren Ligenza, who posted eight points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks.

Even though they lost, Tamaqua smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Tamaqua's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-5. As for North Schuylkill, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.

Tamaqua will face off against Williams Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. North Schuylkill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
