Softball Recap: Mitchell Marauders vs. Florence Huskies

Mitchell had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 3-9 to make it four. They came up short against the Florence Huskies, falling 16-6. If the Marauders were looking for revenge after losing 17-0 to the Huskies when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Reyna Santos made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Josi Carron, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

As for Florence, they now have a winning record of 9-8. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

On Florence's side, Addison Dalton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Dalton has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in September.

In other batting news, Lilly Roe was excellent, going 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Makala Miller, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Coming up, Mitchell will host Sand Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Marauders will need to watch out since the Scorpions have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Florence, they will square off against Bennett at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
