Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Delta

Delta extended their winning streak to four on Wednesday, bumping them up to 6-3. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Cedaredge Bruins. Considering the Panthers have won six games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lily Gallegos made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jazlyn Naranjo, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Izzy Harrison, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

As for Cedaredge, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered since September 18, 2024.

On Cedaredge's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jewel Laliberte, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Emery Stirnkorb was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Coincidentally, Delta and Cedaredge will both be playing Gunnison the next time they take the field. The Panthers will head out to face the Cowboys at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bruins will head out to face them at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
