Basketball Recap: Paula Pacheco Key Part of Team Effort in Mustangs Win

Costa Mesa hadn't done well against Saddleback recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 49-23 margin over the Roadrunners. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 26 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Costa Mesa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Paula Pacheco, who posted 13 points and five rebounds. Those 13 points gave Pacheco a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Rojas, who put up 13 points.

Costa Mesa pushed their record up to 5-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.0 points on average over those games. As for Saddleback, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Coming up, Costa Mesa and Loara will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest, having both just played. As for Saddleback, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Orange at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
